Why Piano Moving Is Different

Pianos Aren't Furniture. They Need Specialists.

A grand piano can weigh 1,200 pounds. An upright weighs 400-800 pounds. Both have hundreds of delicate internal components - strings, hammers, pin blocks - that can be permanently damaged by improper handling. This isn’t a job for general movers with regular dollies.
Our piano moving crews use specialized skid boards, straps, ramps, and padded piano dollies designed for the exact weight distribution of upright and grand pianos. Every mover on the piano team has moved 100+ pianos - from Steinways to Yamahas to family heirloom uprights - across Southern California since 2014.

On move day, our crew arrives with piano-specific equipment. We secure the lid, wrap the piano in moving blankets, and prep the skid board.

03

Careful transport

Piano loaded with straps and ramps, transported in our air-ride truck with tie-downs. No shifting during transport.

04

Place and unwrap

FAQ

Piano Moving FAQ

The most common questions we get about Piano Moving

How much does piano moving cost?

Depends on piano type (upright vs grand), stairs involved, distance, and any tight spots. Every quote is fixed upfront. Fill our 60-second form or call for a personalized quote.

Do you move grand pianos?

Yes - concert grand, parlor grand, and baby grand pianos are our specialty. Grand pianos require careful disassembly of legs and pedal lyre for safe transport. Our crew handles all reassembly at your new location.

Are you insured for piano moves?

Yes. California PUC License #0191238 with cargo insurance that covers piano value up to appraisal. We can provide proof of insurance before booking - always ask any piano mover for this.

Can you move a piano up or down stairs?

Yes. Straight staircases, curved staircases, split-levels - our crews are trained for all common piano stair scenarios. We assess ahead so we bring the right ramps, straps, and crew size.

Will my piano need to be tuned after the move?

Yes - any piano move requires tuning afterward, even for perfectly executed transport. Pianos are sensitive to temperature and humidity changes, so we recommend tuning 2-3 weeks after settling in your new place.

Do you move digital pianos and keyboards?

Yes, but they’re simpler and cheaper to move than acoustic pianos. Digital pianos and their stands are moved with foam padding and vertical bracing to protect the electronics.

What areas do you serve for piano moving?

Ventura, LA, Santa Barbara, and San Bernardino counties. Both offices dispatch piano crews. For long-distance California piano moves, we handle those too - just mention the pickup and delivery locations.
